You've found one of our secrets hearts!

You’re now stood in the Durnford Street open area of the market. Known these days for it’s street food offerings, but history knows this part of the market has housed everything from printers and upholsterers to artisan cafés and indie art studios.

The street is named after Elias Durnford, a British Army engineer who worked in the American colonies during the 18th century. A nod to Greenwich’s deep-rooted naval and military connections. The area is home to the Old Royal Naval College, after all!

Can you solve the riddle to and find the secret selfie spot? “I twist and turn but do not spin, A circle of strength, with space within. Bronze arms wide in warm embrace, A sculpted calm in a bustling place.” (Michael Speller ‘Encompass’ sculpture)
