DING DONG THE WITCH HAS GONE…..BUT GREENWICH MARKET IS STILL GREEN!

Green Santa at Greenwich Market

Greenwich Market has recently hit the media for its temporary magical transformation into ‘GreenWitch Market’ as part of Universal’s publicity for the movie release of ‘Wicked’. This week, the witch has left, but Greenwich Market is keeping with the ‘green’ theme to show how green can be good, taking inspiration from the film.

Greenwich Market has launched a Christmas campaign, GREENwich IS GOOD to promote shopping locally for sustainable and eco-friendly unique gifts this season. The campaign launches with Green Sunday on 1st December, where visitors will be able to meet Green Santa between 11am and 3pm. There is the chance to win on-the-spot prizes and an exclusive GREENwich IS GOOD natural cotton tote bag.  With the spin of a digital prize wheel, lucky visitors can win prizes such as a decorated shell from A Quirky Pixie Decor, a Peppermint Soap Gift Box from Hammam Essentials Green, an exclusive Christmas decoration from Gisela’s Inky Narratives to name but a few.

A selection of traders will also be selling some goods that are actually green in colour as part of the campaign. Some of the traders will be selling physically green goods as part of the campaign.  Shopping locally is a way to shop more sustainably and ethically by supporting small businesses and many of the products sold at the Market are made with natural and organic materials or upcycled goods, making it the ideal place for Christmas shopping.

Green Santa will also be at the Market on Small Business Saturday on 7th December between 11am and 3pm. Santa might even be helping wrap your presents in the Market’s own branded eco-friendly wrapping paper.

The Greenwich Market website also has a special personality quiz which matches visitors with the shops and stalls that are the perfect fit for all their shopping needs. Take part in the quiz here!

At Greenwich Market, shoppers will find a variety of shops and stalls offering art, antiques, crafts, and clothing, along with food stalls featuring cuisines from around the globe. The market is indoors, making it a cozy destination whatever the weather. Many traders at the market focus on eco-friendly and sustainable products, ranging from organic skincare to upcycled decorated oyster shells, handmade prints, felt figures crafted from natural wool, and organic handmade soaps. With such a diverse selection, visitors are sure to find the perfect gift, whether it is for an environmentally-conscious teenager or an eco-friendly friend.

So be green and good this Christmas and shop at Greenwich Market, you never know who you may bump in to whilst visiting.
