Christmas at Greenwich Market

There really is no better time to head to Greenwich Market than Christmas. Whether you’re searching for heartfelt gifts, gathering with friends and family around a cup of mulled wine or enjoying live performances over the festival season, you’ll find both warmth and wonder nestled within the historic architecture of the Market.

Greenwich Market transforms into a radiant winter wonderland at Christmas  – complete with carol singing, mince pies and a visit from Santa.

It all begins with the annual community Lantern Parade and Christmas Lights Switch-On on Wednesday 19th November and the holiday season continues right into early January.

Lantern Parade in Greenwich for Greenwich Market

To kick off the official start of the winter festive season, the community comes together for Greenwich’s beloved Lantern Parade and Christmas Lights Switch-On. Local school children carry handmade lanterns through the historic streets of Maritime Greenwich before Greenwich Market’s Christmas lights are flicked on by one lucky competition winner. The convivial atmosphere is carried along with carol singing, a brass band and Christmassy sweet treats to enjoy while you shop. Make sure to stop by this year on Wednesday 19th November, the market will be open from 10am to 6pm. Find out more about the Christmas Light Switch on here.
